Pilgrimage towards Peace
How has the school year started for your kiddos? My objective was simply to get my children to school. We completed all of the medical appointments, filled out all the forms, purchased new shoes, went school supply shopping, got the gear we needed for Fall sports, shopped for fun lunch box snacks, laid out outfits the night before, color-coded our family calendar, and took the obligatory (and adorable) first day of school pictures. We were done. Back to the routine!
Yet, we hit some unexpected roadblocks. We have eight kids in five different schools and I’ve already talked to one assistant principal, every school office, the high school social worker, a school counselor, the bus company, and club advisors. I’ve paid fees online, downloaded the new communication apps, and spent countless hours writing emails. We have cried about spelling words, missed buses, and forgotten lunches; moaned about schedules, and gotten lost at curriculum nights. Though our path hasn't been as smooth as I expected it to be, Proverbs 2:8 assures us that, "He guards the paths of the just, and protects those who are faithful to Him. Then you will understand what is right, just and fair, and you will find the right way to go."
Even when I can't problem-solve every issue within their school day, this verse reminds me that God is their guard. He watches my children when I cannot and is our ultimate source of wisdom when we don't know which way to go. May our way forward into this new school year be marked by steady steps, knowing that He directs every one of them.
